What
comes after a successful surgery? You return to your pediatric cardiologist,
who will continue to advise you on your next steps: medication,
exercise limits etc. You may have to see your cardiologist only
occasionally, or perhaps regularly, depending upon the severity
of your child's heart problem. And if you are not comfortable with
your physician? Then by all means change. Talk to other parents
you have met, either in the hospital or via the support group. If
you are uncomfortable with the given cardiologist that does not
mean that he/she is a "bad doctor"; it simply means that
his/her approach does not match with your needs. All Pediatric Cardiologist
groups have more than one cardiologist to choose from. And if you
want a second opinion or change of institutions, ask your doctor.
If he gets angry, well, then you really want to change. And if you
want "neutral advice" send us an email (or call or write)
and THIC will answer your question.
