THE HEART INSTITUTE FOR CHILDREN provides a full range of electrophysiologic monitoring and interventional services, including:

  • Evaluation of syncope (loss of consciousness) and palpitations
  • Evaluation and therapy of supraventricular tachycardia and Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome
  • Evaluation and therapy of ventricular tachycardia
  • Evaluation of families with inherited cardiac rhythm disorders, including long QT syndrome and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
  • Evaluation of athletes' risk of syncope
  • Trans-telephonic continuous loop event recording (ECG via telephone)
  • Implantable continuous loop event recording
  • Transvenous pacemaker implantatio at all ages, including newborns
  • Internal cardioverter/defibrillator (AICD) implantations
  • Transesophageal electrophysiologic studies
  • Intra-cardiac eletrophysiologic studies
  • Radio frequency catheter ablations of supraventricular and ventricular tachycardia
  • Management of arrhythmia in congenital heart disease including the Fontan procedure
  • Management of arrhythmia in adults with congenital heart disease
  • Management of slow heart beat in children of mothers with Lupus
